Being active in the local community is at the heart of what we do at Grunwerg. We seek to support as many charitable causes as we can. The management team and board also choose a local charity to support every year.

Our values as a business are represented by our commitment to the local community. We know how important it is for businesses to be present in what goes on in their community. For as long as we are trading, we will always do what we can to support charitable causes.

Supporting our Health Service

In 2020 we allocated a portion of our sales to be donated towards local good causes. £5,000 was donated to Ashgate Hospice in Chesterfield and £5,000 to St Luke’s Hospice in Sheffield through a variety of fund-raising efforts. Both Hospices provide free of charge care to patients with life-limiting illnesses. During the Coronavirus pandemic, we donated water bottles and kettles to NHS staff at local hospitals to show our gratitude for their incredible hard work.

We also support our industry charity, Hospitality Action, which aims to provide essential support to all who work in hospitality. A portion of our sales through the national lockdown were donated to the charity, as well as a portion of our sales from our customer event at Le Gavroche restaurant.

IGL through its distribution of Global knives annually supports the Roux scholarship, a competition run by the Roux family designed to create career-changing opportunities for some of the best young chefs in the country, an association we are proud to say has lasted over 20 years.
