We have just come back from a fantastic week exhibiting at The Restaurant Show 2021 at Olympia, London. The show, which started on Monday 27th September and ran until Wednesday 29th September, was a hub of excitement as hundreds of suppliers and industry leaders from the restaurant and hospitality sector were finally able to meet up again, at long last!
The team at Grunwerg showcased some exciting new products during the week and enjoyed the opportunity to connect with a multitude of chefs, restaurant managers, students and hospitality contacts.
It was no surprise that our extremely popular Global Knives was the stand out brand showcased at the Grunwerg stand GE70 this year, along with Grunwerg kitchen knife brand, Rockingham Forge which featured a number of unique designs. We also saw some of the more premium Japanese knives taking centre stage, plus a brand new collection by Grunwerg launching later this month, the highly anticipated Katana Saya brand of knives.
Katana Saya is the universal knife brand of our times, encompassing the very best of our different cultures and traditions. The Katana was the prized sword of the Samurai with its extra sharp blade fashioned from folded Damascus Steel. The blades of our knives are similarly crafted from Japanese VG10 Damascus Steel. The range comes in two designs, Pakkawood and Olive Wood and each knife comes with its own stylish sheath to protect the knife. The most unique and exciting part of this range is the play around ‘East Meets West’ which sees some of the most oriental styles of knives meet the traditional European designs.
For Japanese traditionalists, we present the traditional Japanese style knives with traditional Wooden Saya, to match the knife handles. For those of a more Westernised nature, we have adapted the series to represent all the popular Western-style blades, and provided a more modern and practical storage and safety solution, with a real leather sheath.
Global Knives, along with Michel Roux Jr presented a unique offer to chefs, students and friends in hospitality, to show some support to an industry which has suffered tremendously over the past few months. Global Knives also showcased the brand new UKON range and the stylish new leatherware accessories and chefs rolls.
From Rockingham Forge we saw the introduction of a brand new vibrant range called Sunrise, featuring iconic marble handles in four beautiful colours; Sapphire, Amber, Emerald and Jet Black. The new Rockingham Forge ceramic whetstones and accessories were also popular and a huge talking point at the show.
It was great to be back at The Restaurant Show, connecting with suppliers and customers and finding out about the latest trends and industry news. We’re already excited for next year!
