Charles and David Grunwerg receive the Donald Bird Award!

Last week, Charles and David Grunwerg received the Donald Bird award by CESA after showing great dedication and commitment to the catering industry for the past 70 years.

CESA, AKA the Catering Equipment Suppliers Association, is the go-to organisation for catering equipment in the UK. Many suppliers in the industry, such as Grunwerg have been a part of this for years, and this has made a huge difference to the landscape of the catering industry today.

The award is named after Donald Bird, who was a prominent and well respected figurehead within our industry. He initiated the Catering Utensils Association (CUA) and this group represented the light equipment and tableware companies. As chair of the CUA, he led the group and its member companies into membership of CESA, which resulted in further growth and the development of the annual CESA Forum. Today, CESA is a very prominent organisation with in the catering industry, and it is an honor to win any awards voted by the members themselves.

The Donald Bird award is presented every year to an individual/s who display any of the following criteria:

  •  Dedication and commitment to the industry
  •  The knowledge/experience within the industry
  •  An individual who has ‘gone the extra mile’

Congratulations to Charles and David Grunwerg who wear the crown this year, a well-deserved award to add to their cabinet!
